App Privacy Policy
RestoTach Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 8/15/2026
Last Updated: 8/15/2026
RestoTach LLC ("RestoTach," "we," "us," or "our") built the RestoTach mobile application (the "App") to configure and control RestoTach digital gauge hardware. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, why, and what choices you have.
The short version: the App does not require an account, and your vehicle data stays on your phone and your hardware. We do not receive it.
1. Scope
This policy covers the RestoTach App and the RestoTach hardware it communicates with (the Main Hub, display pods, and associated firmware). Purchases made on restotach.com are covered by the privacy policy posted on that site, which uses Shopify as its commerce platform.
2. No Account Required
The App does not offer or require user accounts. You do not create a username or password, and we do not maintain a user profile for you.
3. Vehicle and Hardware Data Stays on Your Device
When your phone is paired with a RestoTach Main Hub, the App exchanges the following information directly with your hardware over Bluetooth:
• Live vehicle parameters — engine speed, vehicle speed, oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, system voltage, boost, and other parameters your vehicle or ECU makes available.
• Diagnostic data — OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes (active and pending), the reporting module identifier, and emissions readiness monitor status, where an OBD-II adapter is connected.
• Vehicle and gauge configuration — details you enter about your vehicle, sensor calibration values, redline, gauge themes, and parameter assignments.
• Hardware status — connected display pods, firmware versions, and settings stored on the Hub.
This information is exchanged only between your phone and your hardware. It is not transmitted to RestoTach servers, and we do not collect, store, or have access to it. It remains on your device and on your Hub until you delete it, uninstall the App, or reset the hardware.
We do not collect your VIN.
4. Location
The App does not collect, store, or transmit your location.
On Android, the operating system requires apps to hold location permission in order to scan for and connect to nearby Bluetooth devices. If the App requests location permission on your Android device, it is for that reason only, to find your RestoTach Main Hub. We do not use this permission to determine or record where you are.
The App does not request or use location in the background.
5. Permissions the App Requests
• Bluetooth — required to discover, pair with, and communicate with your RestoTach Main Hub and any connected OBD-II adapter. Used for that purpose only.
• Location (Android only) — required by the Android operating system for Bluetooth scanning, as described above.
You can revoke either permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking Bluetooth permission will prevent the App from connecting to your hardware.
6. Information We Do Receive
Crash reports. We receive crash and stability information about the App through the developer reporting built into the Apple App Store and Google Play. These reports contain technical details such as device model, operating system version, App version, and the state of the software when it stopped, not your vehicle data or your identity. Apple provides this data only for users who have chosen to share analytics with developers; you can change that choice in your device settings.
Update delivery. The App receives software updates through Expo Application Services. When the App checks for an update, that service receives your device platform, App version, and IP address in order to deliver the correct build.
Support communications. If you email us at support@restotach.com, including to report a problem with the App or with your hardware, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you choose to attach, such as photos, logs, or diagnostic information. We use it to respond to you and to fix the problem. Please do not send us information you do not want us to have.
Website and store. Visiting restotach.com or purchasing hardware there is handled by Shopify under the privacy policy posted on that site.
7. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described in Section 6 to:
• diagnose and fix defects in the App and firmware;
• respond to your support requests;
• deliver software updates; and
• comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your information to build a profile of you.
8. How We Share Information
We share information only with:
• Apple and Google, as distributors of the App and providers of crash reporting;
• Expo Application Services, for build and update delivery;
• [Outlook], which hosts the support@restotach.com mailbox;
• Legal and safety recipients, where required by law or legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety; and
• A successor, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply.
9. Data Retention
Vehicle configuration, calibration, and theme data stays on your device and your Hub until you remove it; we hold no copy. Crash reports are retained by Apple, Google, and us for the periods those platforms provide. Support emails are retained for 24 months, so we can reference prior issues, then deleted.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the limited information we hold. Because vehicle data never leaves your phone and your hardware, the most important security controls for that data are the ones on your own device, a screen lock and current operating system updates. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Because we do not maintain accounts or collect your vehicle data, there is generally no personal information for us to look up about you. You can:
• revoke Bluetooth or location permission in your device settings;
• delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App or resetting your hardware; and
• email support@restotach.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any support correspondence we hold.
U.S. state privacy rights. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have the right to know what personal information we collect, request a copy, request correction or deletion, and appeal a denial. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
EEA and UK rights. You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability, along with the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Where the GDPR applies, we process the limited data in Section 6 on the basis of legitimate interests (fixing defects, providing support and updates) and, for optional crash analytics, your consent given through your device settings.
12. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International Users
We are based in the United States. The limited information described in Section 6 is stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, in particular, when new features such as maps and navigation are added. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and provide notice through the App or on restotach.com before the changes take effect.
